ABOUT ME

Hey there! I’m Alicia—a Disney-loving, dice-rolling, story-chasing therapist who believes that geek culture is more than just fun… it’s a lifeline. I’m also the Director of Education and Training at Geek Therapeutics, where I get to blend my love for role-playing games, fandoms, and post doctoral mental health continuing education every single day. If you’re someone who finds comfort in character sheets, gets excited about world-building, or just wants a therapist who gets why your favorite fandom means so much to you—you’ll probably feel right at home with me. I work especially well with creatives, neurodivergent folks, LGBTQIA+ individuals, Veterans, and anyone searching for a judgment-free space to explore who they really are. Whether you’re navigating life through classic techniques or a therapeutic campaign, I bring humor, imagination, and deep respect for non-traditional expression into every session. Outside the therapy room, I’m an avid baker, TV binger, gamer, writer, Disney enthusiast, and improv lover. I enjoy collaborative storytelling, character creation, and diving deep into the emotional arcs of fictional worlds. My path to Geek Therapy started when I realized the stories that shaped me—fantasy worlds, epic quests, and beloved fandoms—weren’t just entertainment; they were survival tools, identity builders, and sources of strength. Now, I get to help others tap into that same magic, guiding them as they become the heroes of their own stories, one meaningful session at a time.

My Therapy Approach

My therapy style is collaborative, creative, and ever-evolving—just like the clients I work with. As an eclectic therapist, I blend evidence-based practices with geek-centered tools like video games, tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs), and creative writing to build personalized treatment plans that reflect each individual’s unique identity, interests, and goals. Whether we’re processing life events through narrative therapy, exploring coping skills in a fantasy setting, or using game mechanics to build emotional regulation, the work is always grounded in partnership and purpose. As a clinical social worker, I believe deeply in the values of dignity, self-determination, and the power of authentic connection. I meet my clients where they are—without judgment—and walk beside them as they explore their past, present, and the version of themselves they’re striving to become. My goal is always to help people “level up” in real life: to gain insight, build confidence, and feel more in control of their own story. I take time to build strong therapeutic relationships through trust, shared curiosity, and even a little humor. My approach resonates especially with creatives, neurodivergent individuals, Veterans, LGBTQIA+ clients, and those who’ve struggled to feel seen in traditional therapy spaces. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, Autism, ADHD, and identity exploration. Whether you’re rolling for initiative or simply showing up to talk, I’m here to help you take the next step on your personal journey—with support, strategy, and a little geeky flair.
